Okay, update I redid the clone onto the new ssd and unplugged the old HDD in an attempt to boot from the new ssd. But unfortunately, the bios force boot (F12) didn’t give an option for booting from the new drive. Make sure you exit programs/virus scanners/internet connections before cloning. Install new SSD and replace old SSD and make sure battery is unplugged. First reboot will fail. Clean SSD and redo cloning. Use Macrium Reflect instead. Should be much faster, when not using USB. If it won't boot from the SSD that way, possibly because BIOS is set to RAID, change it to AHCI as I posted above, after booting from the HDD. Then just re-clone the image onto the SSD and try booting from the SSD via the F12 menu again.
