You see, Rolex makes a "mistake" (sorry to say it!) by making sure that the date changes EXACTLY at midnight, but ONLY when you advance the hands MANUALLY via the winding crown! Rolex Quickset Date/Datejust. 1.Wind the watch. 2.To change the date, pull the crown out to the first notch. If adjusting a men's watch, twist the crown clockwise, and twist counter-clockwise for a ladies' watch. 3.Move the crown out to the last position to change the time on the Rolex watch. The Rolex has a quickset mechanism and that's the reason it flips instantly and also the reason why one can change the date at any time of the day without damaging the movement. There's no need to be concerned about changing the date during the critical time period on a modern Rolex because of the quickset mechanism.
Anyhow just curious. As far as I remember, Rolex say as long as the change is between -5 mins to +10 minutes of midnight, it’s within their specification. My Rolex Datejust, Tudor BB GMT and Omega Seamaster all change between 0005-0015. 6 Minutes isn't a lot. But, I can say that when I press hands on watches I've done, I get a lot closer. With Rolex having an instant date change, it's easy to get it almost perfect. I usually find midnight without the hands on.
