The only thing that will cause the bubble to burst is if people stop buying from anyone other than an AD or boutique. Yes, legitimate sellers of used watches will be hurt, but guess what, it'll result in pricing of 30 year watches being below what the new ones retail for, which is normal. I understand Panerai is selling extremely well, both new and on the second-hand market, but I think it's a bubble that is due to burst. Maybe not now, but I think in the next ten years, people will gradually forget and grow bored of Panerai.

Thank you. Ive become a bit disillusioned with the rolex hype. If you remember, panerai had the same bubble which burst. I wanted something understated that feels immaculate on the wrist. It came in the form of the Luminor Due, which incorporated sunray burst dial motifs and arrived on alligator straps looking far more dressy than any other Panerai to date. Measured across, these were still large watches, but thin movements were deployed in order to keep the overall thickness down. But please, don’t expect the Rolex bubble to burst with a bang and that immediately after, everything will be right as rain again. No, the bubble will slowly deflate; all you need is just a little patience — that’s what Axl Rose of Guns N’ Roses once sang, anyway.
